Marald Van Haasteren is a fine artist based in Leiden, Netherlands. His approach is bold yet masterfully delicate, often times exploring ideas of elegance and beauty in nature. Marald has created work for a number of aggressive bands including Ghost, Bolt Thrower, High on Fire, Deafheaven, Kylesa, Wolfbrigade, and more. Recently he has worked on incredible visual collaborations with John Dyer Baizley for the Baroness albums "Purple" and "Gold and Grey".

Marald's "Mercifully" and "Mercilessly" illustrations were inspired by the two songs which bookend the "Rust on the Gates of Heaven" album by Wear Your Wounds. Each panel represents the struggle and entanglement between the light and dark in life. They are tied together symbolically by a circular shape consisting of half a crown of thorns (sacrifice) & half a nest (nurture).

Available in three sizes as a museum quality giclee print.
